Information
Can fantastic arts activities – like web design and film-making – help shape the new communities in North Swindon? That was the question being posed by Flux, a three-year pilot project funded by the government.
Background
Starting in April 2006, we spent the first year researching and planning the programme, consulting with local young people and appointing our team. The students came up with the name and logo, working with digital artists the Evil Twins. The Flux team moved into Isambard Community School in July 2007 and began to deliver a full programme of dance, music, art, drama, film and media activities.
Flux ended in July 2009 at which time:
- 7,000 participants had been involved in Flux activities
- 131 artists had worked on more than 2,895 hours of activities.
We were also proud to be working in the first school in the country to have trained every single member of staff to be an arts award advisor.
Flux was funded directly by the government as an action research project, through their Invest to Save programme.
