Arts Workshops

Flux piloted a series of Saturday morning arts workshops for families living in and around Priory Vale.

The first family workshops, which took place in the Abbey Meads area in December 2007, focussed on storytelling, where participants created their own stories with artist Martin Maudsley.

The stories were then brought to life with shadow-puppet making workshops, run by Jonathan Hayter. The aim was to develop interest and increase participation in the arts amongst families living in the area.

The final session, held in North Swindon Library, attracted 25 people who took part on a drop-in basis. Each participant created their very own puppet character using a freeform drawing technique, which was then translated into shadow puppet form. The end of the session was celebrated with seeing all the creative efforts come to life with a colourful and musical puppet show.
